In January of 2020, after a long illness, my husband of 43 years passed away. I was by then living in Southern California but I still owned our home of many years in Mammoth Lakes, over 300 miles north. It was obvious that the right answer was to sell it. But I kept putting it off: the idea of going there and going through everything in the house and getting it moved here (including a car that I kept there) was daunting to say the least.
Kelly had worked with me for many years, keeping my office and home organized. When I told her what I needed to do she reminded me that she is a Senior Move Manager! She could organize and implement the entire move, and I wouldn’t have to be there at all. So I found a realtor and listed the house, it sold quickly, and suddenly we had a 30-day deadline.
Kelly organized movers and moving supplies. Then she rented a car and drove to Mammoth on a Tuesday. On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, using Facetime, we went through everything in the house, deciding what to keep, what to give away, and what to throw away; Kelly single-handedly packed up everything for the movers, organized the donations, and took care of the trash, all the while interacting with the realtor, the house manager, and various repair people. And on Saturday the movers showed up, she directed the loading of their truck and sent them on their way, closed up the house, and drove my car back here to meet them. They brought everything in and put it where I wanted it, and the whole thing was done before dinnertime.
This was the very definition of “money well spent”.”
